Welcome!

My name is Carol Sheppard.  I grew up with a love for animals that rivals or exceeds my love for humans, not including my kids, for which there is no rival. 

I've made a lot of mistakes, some that shortened the lives of the animals in my care, through ignorance, misunderstanding, and incorrect methods taught to me as a child.  Thank God for information and videos on the internet, application of an enormous amount of unnaturally acquired patience, and countless books on the subject, our knowledge of the instincts, mannerisms ,and even the minds of animals is evolving.  

Although I have only had experience with canines and cats, what I hope this blog accomplishes is a shared love of all our mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, and amphibians!  I'll share, as honestly as possible and without exaggeration, methods that worked for me, and those that failed dismally.

Of course, there will be lots of pictures and videos.  I encourage you to send me your stories of failures, successes, tips, comments, and lots of pictures and videos.  I work full-time, so it may take me a while to review them, but if I can,  they'll be posted on this blog.
